Weed spraying sand dunes, Stewart Island
We are looking for long-term volunteers to help with a variety of conservation activities on Stewart Island/Rakiura, in the Rakiura National Park and around Halfmoon Bay.
Volunteers will work with DOC rangers to help with weed eradication, threatened species work, animal pest control, and track maintenance.
Most work will be based in the field and involve overnight trips. There will also be the opportunity to work on activities with local community groups.
What to expect
Pickup/drop off location: Rakiura National Park Visitor Centre, Stewart Island/Rakiura. Times and dates will be confirmed with successful applicants.
Cost: There is no charge for these activities. However, volunteers will need to make their own travel arrangements to and from Stewart Island/Rakiura. Food will only be provided while away on overnight field trips - volunteers will need to provide all other food.
What to bring
A full equipment list and information pack will be issued prior to the commencement of the activity.
