On 30 January, the Conservator publicly notified the intention to declare land held in the Inland and Seaward Kaikoura Ranges to be a Conservation Park. If approved the park will be named Ka Whata Tu O Rakihouia (the standing stores of Rakihouia) and cover in excess of 90,000 hectares.
